Course description This course is intended as a practical introduction to the aims, methods and results of dialectological work in the British Isles. Since the course is partly assessed through a coursework project that involves collection and analysis of data, some of the teaching will involve training in how to become a dialectologist, while the more theoretical parts of the course will involve furthering your understanding of how certain aspects of dialectology may be said to represent the 'meeting point' of diachronic linguistics, sociolinguistics and geolinguistics.
