Learning Outcomes
On completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Examine critically the detailed knowledge from physiology and anatomy underpinning current theories of pain control
- Explore and understand the multi-dimensional aspects of pain control drawing on current research-based theories
- Analyse and reflect on the complexity of the assessment and management of different presentations of pain as an experience.
- Demonstrate a critical awareness of the potential implications for individuals living with pain and the challenges of enabling possible coping mechanisms
- Understand of role of all health care members of the multidisciplinary team in relation to the control of pain in all its various manifestations
