Semester 1: 1000 word PhD research proposal prepared according to the PPLS postgraduate application guidelines, plus a 300 word lay summary of the proposed research. The proposal should usually be linked to the research theme of an academic member of staff within Psychology. Formative feedback will be provided, but a numerical mark will not be recorded.
Semester 2: Poster presentation of MSc Dissertation proposal to be presented at Psychology MSc poster day. Formative feedback will be provided, but a numerical mark will not be recorded, only Pass / Fail. |

Learning Outcomes
On completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- understand the relationship between research ideas and the formulation of testable hypotheses
- communicate research ideas and findings in a variety of formats to specialist and non-specialist audiences

- understand ethical considerations relating to psychological research design
