SummaryIn this course students undertake a self-directed learning experience generated in close collaboration with the academic staff to promote their learning within the field of Stem Cells and Translational Neurology.
Course description The Student Led Individual Created Course (SLICC) is an opportunity for students to undertake a self-directed learning experience generated in close collaboration with the academic staff to promote their learning within the field of Stem Cells and Translational Neurology.
The development of a structured learning contract facilitates the process and is the starting point for this work. Students will design and submit their learning contract detailing their aims, as well as what areas they wish to investigate and how they predict they will learn and develop. The final written assignment would form the majority of their assessment and should demonstrate the development of their leadership, communication and/or knowledge as the course has progressed

Learning Outcomes
On completion of this course, the student will be able to:
  1. Demonstrate development of critical understanding of the complexities, challenges and wider implications of the specialist context of the SLICC, in this case stem cells and translational neurology
  2. Draw on and apply relevant skills and attributes (academic, professional and/or personal) in order to engage effectively and critically with SLICC and be able to identify where these skills need improvement and/or development
  3. Evaluate and critically reflect upon approach, learning, development and judgement throughout SLICC
  4. Use experiences generated during SLICC to critically develop specialist skills in one of the following focussed areas: research and enquiry; personal and intellectual autonomy; communication; personal effectiveness.
  5. Demonstrate how experiences gained during SLICC have developed mindset towards one of the following: enquiry and lifelong learning; aspiration and personal development; outlook and engagement
