SummaryThis course is intended to introduce students to a range of materials, how our thinking towards design and interpretation may change according to the nature of the materials and the underlying processes of production.
Course description This course will also serve to give breadth to the experience of working in different environments, specific to the ECA as a precursor and to develop a series of short projects serving as an introduction for the students to different workshops, such as the Architecture, Glass, Textiles, Metal etc. As the programme evolves and numbers increase it may be possible to extend the number of projects and introduce a degree of selection in the workshop projects available. Each project will involve an introduction to the workshop and a short carefully defined project that helps students to understand both the creative potential and practical limits of the workshop. The broader aim of these workshops is to create critical and reflective appreciation of technique and process.
