SummaryThis course will look at developments in American political fiction since 1945, and how post-ww2 American novelists have approached key 'political' issues: war, sex, race, money, 'politics'. We will look at definitions of 'political', and how literary form and style may themselves be viewed as elements of political culture.

Students will be able to demonstrate an understanding of the various meanings of 'political', particularly as applied to literary fiction
