SummaryThis course aims to ensure that the candidate will have a good understanding of the principles and practice of clinical radiology. They will gain understanding about the physical properties and risk of x-rays, and discuss the benefits and disadvantages of the various modalities and techniques used in medical imaging. They will gain experience in the interpretation of clinical radiology images through the use of clinical case scenarios. This will focus on conditions encountered in the acute and general medical setting.

Learning Outcomes
On completion of this course, the student will be able to:
  1. An understanding of the principles and various techniques involved in imaging patients in a modern healthcare environment. They should be able to interpret x-ray images to diagnose the common conditions encountered in acute/ general medicine (using clinical case scenarios).
  2. Understand how x-rays work, the physical principles and the risks
  3. Understand the main imaging modalities used in modern healthcare and the limitations of each.
  4. Develop the skills to diagnose some common clinical conditions encountered in the general medical setting (through the interpretation of images from plain x-rays, CT scanning and MRI).
