SummaryThis course will ask you to produce a body of work that demonstrates your ability to consolidate a professional awareness of your practice and how it relates to current Fine Art practice.
Course description This course asks you to use the knowledge you gain through research to produce a critically informed and cohesive body of work for presentation.


1.To propose and produce a self-directed body of work that shows a high level of ambition and self-determination.

2.To present a selected body of work that demonstrates critical analysis, personal vision and awareness of its context within current Fine Art practice.

Additional Information (Assessment) Assessment is formative at the end of Semester 1 and summative at the end of Semester 2.

Submit a digital document (Powerpoint or PDF file) of up to 10 slides outlining an exhibition proposal including a visual representation of how you would present the work in your chosen space. The document should also include a 300 word statement outlining your exhibition proposal. This work will be assessed against the MA Fine Art Studio 5 (HIAR10102) Learning Outcome 1. A document, (Powerpoint or PDF file), used in a presentation to peers and staff during the academic year. It should contextualise your work within current fine art practice. There is no specific word count for this element but it should reflect what you can realistically deliver in a 10 minute presentation. You will get an opportunity to present the document before it is summatively assessed and you will receive verbal feedback from staff and peers. This piece of work will be assessed against MA Fine Art Studio 5 (HIAR10102) Learning Outcome 2. A documented body of work made since the last summative assessment. This should include no more than 20 images. You may include video and/or sound not exceeding 10 minutes. These should be clearly labelled with title, date, medium, dimensions (height x width x depth). This work will be assessed against MA Fine Art Studio 5 (HIAR10102) Learning Outcome 3..

On completion of this course, the student will be able to:
  1. Present evidence showing a focussed range of solutions to the presentation and installation of work.
  2. Demonstrate a high level of critical awareness and analysis in relation to personal and current Fine Art practice.
  3. Demonstrate a high level of self determination within the organisation, planning of study, and dissemination of studio practice.
