| Summary | To explore the nature of radical politics and thought in Britain through the use of primary sources that will emphasise the diversity of radicalism and its influences and the wide variety of radical approaches to politics and society. As the term 'radicalism' was not a contemporary one, students will be encouraged to think critically about its use in the extensive secondary literature relating to this period of British History. |

Learning Outcomes
On completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- have gained an understanding of the different ways in which historians can investigate radicalism and popular politics.
- have an understanding of the key historical debates surrounding radicalism in Britain and Ireland.
- have become acquainted with the range of primary and secondary materials available for studying radicalism.
- have developed reading, note-taking, essay-writing and presentational skills.
