Formal summative written assessment will constitute 60% of the student's grade. Online discussion in both a synchronous and asynchronous environment will contribute further to the final mark. In combination with the submission of electronic course assignments, these elements will provide the remaining 40% of the final mark. |

Learning Outcomes
On completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Analyse and communicate the role of that zoonotic diseases have played in human history
- Critically analyse the mechanisms of viral spillover and emerging infectious disease transmission, and its relevance in the 21st century
- Demonstrate a knowledge and understanding of bacterial, viral and parasitic zoonotic diseases; critically evaluate how they can be controlled, with awareness of local, national and global factors and influences.
- Review and evaluate the total societal burden of zoonotic disease
