Online discussion in both a synchronous and asynchronous environment will contribute further to the final mark. In combination with the submission of electronic course assignments, these elements will provide the remaining 40% of the final mark.

Learning Outcomes
On completion of this course, the student will be able to:
  1. Analyse and communicate the role of that zoonotic diseases have played in human history
  2. Critically analyse the mechanisms of viral spillover and emerging infectious disease transmission, and its relevance in the 21st century
  3. Demonstrate a knowledge and understanding of bacterial, viral and parasitic zoonotic diseases; critically evaluate how they can be controlled, with awareness of local, national and global factors and influences.
  4. Review and evaluate the total societal burden of zoonotic disease
