20% Asynchronous discussion boards. The impact of external factors (stress, fatigue, abusive behaviour) will be discussed on boards (SCQF 11.1)

40% Case study 1 policy analysis of stress case study: group work wiki on a choice of case studies with a one page policy brief output. This will include peer marking via a WebPA (SCQF 11.2, 11.5)

Learning Outcomes
On completion of this course, the student will be able to:
  1. Have knowledge and understanding of the role of external factors (stress, fatigue, abusive behaviour) and their impact upon a healthcare context (SCQF 11.1)
  2. Students will have practical and applied knowledge of monitoring and safety policies and methods (SCQF 11.1)
  3. Students will be able to critically analyse Monitoring for safety policies make informed judgements in situations in the absence of complete or consistent data/information. To critically appraise the evidence for how team performance impacts on safety & patient outcomes (SCQF 11.3)
  4. Students will gain experience creating policy specific materials such as policy briefs for a specific audience (policy makers) (SCQF 11.5)
