SummaryIn this course students would undertake an independent study which would involve the planning, execution and development of a significant piece of project work. Study placement would be entirely dependent on the students ability to establish a laboratory work placement.
Course description 1. Students will need to critically assess their own and work as well as their roles and responsibilities via the learning contract
2. Students will develop real lab-based experiences and work-life skills from working in an active academic area
3. Due to working independently students must show a high degree of autonomy and time management skills to complete their dissertation
4. Students will need to display a significant individual drive and determination to engage with their project and remain focused

Learning Outcomes
On completion of this course, the student will be able to:
  1. Deliver a real world project with a direct impact for an organisation/employer
  2. Demonstrate critical understanding and cohesive thinking to link all the key areas students have studied including neurodegenerative diseases, stem cells, models, ethics and stem cell technologies/industry as relevant to their chosen project
  3. Develop academic abilities through direct application of theoretical skills to a professional situation
  4. Evaluate and criticise the relevant literature around their chosen project area
