Summary | Both in clinical and research practice, we are undertaking more complex and costly procedures. This course will include aspects of ethics in anaesthesia, for example in research, in husbandry (e.g. castration or docking in farm animals) and then lead on to the ultimate analgesic- euthanasia. |

Learning Outcomes
On completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- discuss ethical issues associated with clinical practice, with particular reference to veterinary anaesthesia and analgesia
- demonstrate an awareness of the legal and ethical framework around clinical practice, experimental practice and publications.
- present an ethical argument in a welfare related situation with appropriate justifications
- demonstrate an understanding of approaches to ethical problem solving and discuss ethics and the applications of ethical thinking to clinical practice.
