SummaryThis ten-credit course will enable students to develop critical awareness, knowledge, and skills to work collaboratively, across disciplines, to better tackle complex challenges that occur at the intersections of human, animal and environmental health. The course will be jointly provided by the R(D)SVS and Medical Schools. It will be available to students on the One Health MSc and Master of Public Health programmes, as well as students from other disciplines. Concepts of ¿One Health¿ will be introduced, reinforced and potentially further developed. Group work will form a major part of this course. Barriers to working with people from different disciplines, and innovative approaches to facilitating such work and to developing and building new communities to address health challenges, will be explored. By the end of the course, students will have developed a deeper awareness of the complexities of working across disciplines, and some related strategies to use in their own professional and practice environments.
Course description This is a 5-week distance learning course worth 10 credits. Students are expected to spend 14-20 hours per week on this course. Students will be given a brief overview of the course and will be provided with relevant materials and resources. Specific collaborative and individual tasks and online discussion exercises relating to core practices and case studies will be set. This will culminate in group and reflective assignments to be submitted at the end of the course.
