Notes:
Before selecting your outside courses, please ensure you have met your Personal Tutor.

**For academic year 2020-21, the School of GeoSciences will not be undertaking field courses with international destinations.
All UK field destinations will be vetted for suitability according to risk to students, staff, and host communities. This is to ensure that we protect the safety of our students, staff and the host communities. Alternatives will be provided to ensure key learning outcomes can still be met in any eventuality of not being able to run a physical field experience.
We currently do not know if we can run residential field courses on the UK mainland in academic year 2020-21. We will follow advice from the University and the Scottish and UK Governments, and this will clearly develop over the next 6-12 months. Field courses which involve local day trips may be more feasible if appropriate social distancing measures can be implemented.
In all eventualities, alternatives will be provided that enable you to meet the learning outcomes of all courses affected**

Year 5 Academic year: 2020/21, Starting in: August

Notes:
In order to progress into the 5th year of the MEarthPhys, students must achieve an average of 60% or more over the 3rd and 4th year combined. Boards of Examiners will consider cases of progression for students who are borderline (i.e. achieve between 58% and 59.99% average across their 3rd and 4th years), taking into account the same factors for progression which are taken into account for other progression, award or classification decisions. Borderline criteria used by Boards of Examiners are published to students in advance.
