Summary | The course is divided into four sections which explore different aspects of how architecture is influenced through contruction and manufacturing processes.
Design and the Construction Process
An examination in a historic context of the infusion of design value at all stages of resolution in the building process. Exploration of the importance in design of junction/articulation, an overview of the integration of structure, skin and services in building design.
Design Process in the Industrial Age
An overview of how creative design input can be applied to mechanised and industrial processes. Testing design quality through prototyping and simulation.
Structure and Architecture
An exploration of the symbiotic relationship of great engineering and engineers with architectural expression.
Architecture, Design and Building Skin
A study of the integration of structural, component and environmental design and their application to building skins in differing global contexts. |
