SummaryThis course consists of concentrated practice in listening to and speaking in Chinese.
Course description As a continuation of Chinese language learning after year abroad in China, the key aim of this course is:

To develop an advanced and well-balanced oral competence in Chinese.

To develop and apply communicative Chinese skills in speaking and listening related to a specific professional or cultural context.


The course consists of 2 components:
1) language compression
2) presentation and discussion

Pre-requisites Students MUST have passed: Chinese 3 Year Abroad (ASST10077) OR Chinese 3 Year Abroad (Combined degrees) (ASST10096)

You should make use of both forms of feedback to identify which areas you are doing well in, as well as which areas need improvement. Effective use of feedback will help you improve on your performance in the degree examination.

Learning Outcomes
On completion of this course, the student will be able to:
  1. Confidently use a good range of idioms and colloquial expressions.
  2. Apply pragmatic knowledge of language, communicative skills and intercultural understanding to express complex topics fluently and spontaneously.
  3. Recognise the difference between formal and informal language, and confidently use in different settings and for different purposes.
  4. Present and discuss complex and abstract information related to professional/personal insights, future employment and a specialist nature beyond his/her own field.
