SummaryThis course is designed to expand knowledge and appreciation of how humans and non-human animals interact, covering theoretical and practical aspects of the interaction. There is an emphasis on examining the animal aspect of the interaction while adopting a multidisciplinary approach to the wider subject area.

Learning Outcomes
On completion of this course, the student will be able to:
  1. Demonstrate a critical understanding of the factors that influence the nature of human ¿ animal interactions (HAIs)
  2. Critically evaluate the range of research approaches and methodologies used to study aspects of HAIs and apply these to individual research questions
  3. Critically compare the impact and significance of HAIs in a variety of contexts, and propose solutions to any ethical and/or welfare issues identified
