Course description Review of the current research literature related to the laboratory research project

Students enrolled on the MSc Biomedical Sciences (Zhejiang) programme will carry out a laboratory research project over 40 weeks. In this course students will work independently under the supervision of their project supervisors and the Programme Director, to research into and prepare an in-depth, critical review of the published literature relating to their research project. The literature review will include an appreciation of the relevance and importance of the investigations they propose to carry out in their project, and the possible significance of anticipated outcomes.

Learning Outcomes
On completion of this course, the student will be able to:
  1. The development of knowledge and understanding of the relevance of their chosen research project in the field of Biomedical Sciences
  2. The development and demonstration of the ability to critically evaluate the published literature relevant to their research project topic
  3. The development and demonstration of communication skills in presenting and discussing the background to their research project in a written literature review
  4. The development and demonstration of the ability to work independently under the guidance of their supervisor(s) to achieve desired outcomes
