Course description |
Research topics of current interest in Biomedical Sciences
Students enrolled on the MSc Biomedical Sciences (Zhejiang) programme will select the topic of their laboratory research project during the initial 6-week taught component of the programme. This course consists of a series of research seminars given by Principal Investigators representing different Research Centres and Institutes in Edinburgh. Students will select their research project based on these seminars and through interactions with potential project supervisors and the Programme Director, during this course. At the end of the course in Week 6, students prepare and present a Poster on their chosen research project describing the aims of the project they are about to undertake, the relevance and importance of the proposed research, the experimental and data analysis techniques to be used and the potential challenges, and the anticipated outcomes.

On completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- The development of knowledge and understanding of the relevance of their chosen research project in the field of Biomedical Sciences
- The development and demonstration of the ability to present the essence of their research project topic in the form of a poster
- The development and demonstration of communication skills in presenting and discussing their poster with colleagues and examiners
- The development and demonstration of the ability to work independently under the guidance of their supervisor(s) to achieve desired outcomes
