Course description This is a 20 credit course. The aim of course is to provide training in effective communication of the taught and research based science covered in the MSc in Cardiovascular Biology. The intention is to provide an integrated course to develop effective communication when presenting scientific material. The course will involve the writing of a lay abstract suitable for the general public to understand and 4 presentations, 3 oral presentations and a presented poster.

Feedback An introductory tutorial with guidance on developing skills for effective communication of science will be given at start of semester 1. This will form the foundation for the formative feedback given by Supervisors.

Formative feedback ¿
The student will receive format feedback on their lay abstract prior to submission for summative assessment.
The student will be given formative feedback by their project supervisor on the presentation prior to summative assessment.

Summative feedback ¿ Feedback from two independent markers for the lay abstract and each presentation.
