SummaryAn intensive beginners' course in Scottish Gaelic, providing tuition and practice in written and spoken Gaelic. A considerable amount of private work is needed to meet the requirements of this course. This course is normally intended for visiting students who have studied Gaelic before coming to the University of Edinburgh or who have successfully completed the Introduction to Gaelic Language and Culture (CELT08017) course or the Gaelic 1A (VS1)(CELT08016) course in semester 1.

Learning Outcomes
Gaelic 1A (VS2) aims to give students with a foundational knowledge of Scottish Gaelic a thorough grounding in written and spoken modern Scottish Gaelic by combining an active use of the language with an intellectual understanding of grammatical structure. By the end of the course, students may expect to have gained a good reading and writing knowledge of modern Scottish Gaelic and also to be able to participate in basic conversations.
