SummaryResearch Methods in Analytical Chemistry aims to provide training in the methods and skills required for the students to successfully undertake a MSc research project. There will be a variety of small-group projects covering key skills and techniques required in Analytical Chemistry ¿ similar to the MChem 4P. The course will develop students¿ problem-solving ability, critical thinking and creative thinking.
Course description The course consists of structured exercises, which introduce specific instrumental, computational, research planning, and practical techniques in Analytical Chemistry. The exercises are designed to enable the group of students to develop significant autonomy. These exercises are carried out in small groups of up to four students, and development of group-working skills is an important aim of this part of the course. Students will be assessed on their performance during the exercises and on their ability to communicate results in an appropriate format, such as written reports, posters, oral presentations etc. The course will provide the MSc students an opportunity to expands their skillset in their area of interest. A member of academic staff will be assigned to mentor each group.
