SummaryStudents will critically assess primary research literature in Analytical Chemistry and develop skills in written scientific communication. The aim of the course is to teach transferable skills and prepare the students for their MSc projects. Students will conduct and prepare a literature review on the subject of their chosen research project mentored by an academic supervisor. This process will be supported by seminars on literature searching and critical assessment.
Course description A key feature of the MSc course is the extended Research Project. In semester 2, students carry out a survey of the literature and write a literature review on the subject area of their MSc dissertation. In this exercise students learn to read and critically assess primary scientific literature and prepare a review article that is clearly and concisely written. The process will be mentored by an academic supervisor.
