Learning Outcomes
On completion of this course, the student will be able to:
  1. Appreciate the underlying principles and applications of green and circular chemistry.
  2. Recognise the importance of Life Cycle Analysis.
  3. Discuss the factors involved in the production of sustainable materials from a range of feedstocks.
  4. Recognise the difficulties in defining the boundaries of systems and how these have led to the current focus in 'green chemistry' to minimise the impact of individual manufacturing.
  5. Describe the principles of integrated biorefineries and how different biomass feedstocks are processed to make important chemicals and materials.
