Learning Outcomes
On completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Appreciate the underlying principles and applications of green and circular chemistry.
- Recognise the importance of Life Cycle Analysis.
- Discuss the factors involved in the production of sustainable materials from a range of feedstocks.
- Recognise the difficulties in defining the boundaries of systems and how these have led to the current focus in 'green chemistry' to minimise the impact of individual manufacturing.
- Describe the principles of integrated biorefineries and how different biomass feedstocks are processed to make important chemicals and materials.
