| Course description |
Research Methods in Film Studies 1 will introduce students to the practice of writing academically about cinema as well as discussing practical methods of engaging with the study of individual films. The course will introduce the large number of film-related research resources within the university and in Edinburgh at large. We will also consider how to use the many online film databases to support research. We will engage with a number of issues and topics relevant to the study of film.
Research Methods in Film Studies 1 will ensure that all students are familiar with the basic academic practices of referencing and formatting bibliographies and filmographies.

If a student fails a component, then each assignment will be given a numerical mark and the average used to determine whether a pass mark has been achieved.
