Course description |
The course is composed of five x 2.5 hour lectures: 1) Approaches to Human Cognition, 2) Perception and Attention, 3) Memory, 4) Thinking and Reasoning, 5) Cognition and Emotion.
The lectures will be complemented by recommended readings from the key textbook. Students will also be encouraged to contribute to student-led discussions to supplement the lectures on the materials provided within the course. Encouragement of peer discussion will support students in deeper critical reflection on the theories presented in the lectures and associated materials.
The course is a core component of the MSc Psychology of Mental Health (Conversion) but will be open to others at the discretion of the course organiser.

Formative Assessment will comprise of weekly Multiple Choice Questionnaires available online assessing student comprehension of discrete concepts.
Summative assessment will be a 2000 word critical essay worth 100% of the course mark.
