Course description |
The course focuses on methodological issues specific to the method(s) used within the student's research project. Students will learn through critically assessing seminal work with methods that align with their project to better understand methodological strengths and ways to address weaknesses.
A written report of no less than 5000 words and 200 hours of average student work. The report should provide a critical review of methods used by five empirical papers that align methodologically with the students own research. These critical reviews should contain discussion of what a) method(s) were used, b) the strengths and limitations of this, c) how the authors endeavoured to address limitations both in design and/or acknowledgement, and, d) how the methods are presented. Each critical review should be approximately 750 words long, totalling approximately 3750 words. For the remaining 1250 words students should provide a critical reflection on the method chosen for their research based on what they have learned from the papers reviewed.
