| Summary | The aim of this course is to develop understandings of self, and introduce the idea that the self can be understood in the context of both present and past relationships with others and in relation to wider society. The person-centred approach and psychodynamic perspectives on the self and relationships with others will be critically examined. |

The aim of this course is to develop understandings of self and to explore the idea that the self can be understood in the context of present and past relationships with others and in relation to wider society. Experiential and conceptual exploration of the meanings of the terms 'self', 'other', and 'relationship' will be explored within the person-centred approach and psychodynamic perspectives. These themes will be addressed through practice sessions. Students will be encouraged to make connections with their awareness of self in their personal and professional relationships.

Formative Feedback Event (Nature and Timing):
Formative feedback will be given on all aspects of student's learning throughout the course.
Students will receive regular feedback from tutors, and weekly feedback from peers, on the development of their listening skills in their listening triads.
Elements Of Summative Assessment (With Weightings):
One 3,000 word essay/portfolio (100%)
plus assessment of listening practice (pass/fail)
Students are required to pass both parts of the summative assessment to pass the course.
