SummaryThe areas of study in this course will include Clinical Practice and Oral surgery.

Course description This course comprises of clinical sessions, clinical observations and lectures.
You will continue to enhance your clinical skills by treating patients with increased complexity. Your clinical sessions will remain unchanged from semester one. You will have four clinical sessions per week in the Edinburgh Dental Institute. three sessions will be an adult whole mouth care clinic which run on the restorative department and one paediatric clinical session timetabled on a weekly basis which will rotate alongside study sessions.
The lecture component of this course will introduce you oral surgery procedures and you will have the opportunity to observe these procedures within the Edinburgh Dental Institute and hospital environment.

Additional Information (Assessment) Continuous Assessment.
Examination: Paediatric clinical simulated case and Adult restorative simulated clinical case.
To pass this examination overall, students must pass both cases and have at least one pass in each domain that you are assessed on. To pass a case, students must pass 3 out of 5 domains for that case. A resit of both cases will be required if a student fails one/both of the cases.
Feedback Effective feedback has benefits for the giver, receiver and the wider organisation and works best when it is a two-way process.
Constructive feedback is used to help the student formulate better decisions to improve and increase skills and performance. Students will have opportunities to give and receive feedback from peers, tutors, the wider dental team and patients with these opportunities for feedback arising within lectures, interactive group sessions and during clinical sessions.
Students are given one-to-one feedback from their Personal Tutor at their start of semester meetings, and at any other time during the semester that the student/PT requests.
