SummaryThe aim of this course is to teach the student the basic principles of orthodontics and the interface between paediatric dentistry and orthodontics in the management of the developing dentition and the growing child.
Course description Students will learn the basics underlying orthodontic assessment and treatment planning to enable them to carry out a comprehensive assessment for their patients.

  1. Understand the growth and development of the dento-alveolar complex
  2. Carry out an orthodontic assessment of the developing and established dentition
  3. Identify the need for orthodontic referral
  4. Understand the basic principles of orthodontic appliances
  5. Discuss the multidisciplinary management of hypodontia
