SummaryThe Delivery of Complex Prosthodontic Treatment requires the support of technical staff who manufacture prostheses on prescription from the operator. This course will provide students with experience of working closely with technical staff in addition to developing a deeper understanding of the technical aspects of prosthodontic treatment. Students will manufacture a variety of restorations for patients under their care and undertake all diagnostic and provisional laboratory work. Didactic instruction will be provided to develop skills in occlusal waxing and smile design.
Course description One session per week for duration of programme.

Learning Outcomes
On completion of this course, the student will be able to:
  1. Have well developed skills in communicating with technical, support staff.
  2. Possess good skills in planning, scheduling and delivering complex prosthodontics labwork in partnership with technical staff.
  3. Understand the manufacturing processes for items commonly produced in a dental laboratory.
  4. Be able to undertake diagnostic waxing of anterior aesthetics and occlusal schemes.
  5. Be able to manufacture a variety of laboratory-made items to a basic standard.
