SummaryThis section will cover the principles of statistical methods and sampling; introduce the student to basic descriptive statistics; indicate when bivariate statistical tests should be used; and provide an introduction to multivariable analysis.
Course description This will introduce the students to the methods used in data collection and constructing a database. It will also cover how to produce descriptive statistics and graphs from a statistical computer programme. The statistics of intergroup comparisons (bivariate and multivariable analysis) will be outlined. Interpretation of the results and drawing conclusions from these form part of the training in research methods.
