Reports for single semester projects are typically 25-30 pages A4 but must be no more than 35 pages - including all diagrams, references and appendices. You should use a 12 point Arial font, 2.5cm margins, 1.5 line spacing. All your figure elements should also use at least a 12 point font.

Feedback |
Regular (~1 hour per week for about 8 hours/semester) meetings with supervisor(s) allow for discussion of ideas, results and plans. Supervisors will provide feedback on an outline plan and sample text (~2 pages) for your report. Markers provide written feedback on your final report. You give an oral presentation of your S1 (or S2) project results in S2, with immediate oral (questions) and written feedback (comments) from staff and peers. |

Learning Outcomes
On completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Conduct a comprehensive literature search relevant to a research topic and to select and summarise key findings.
- Understand how knowledge and understanding in the area is developed and some of the established techniques employed to achieve this.
- Have experience of the organisation and completion of an extended project where results and outcomes are not fully defined at the outset.
- Use advanced/specialised skills in research, e.g., laboratory, fieldwork, or computer analysis, practising significant autonomy and initiative.
- Produce a written report and give a oral presentation including a concise summary, description of methods and a critical discussion of results and conclusions.
