Summary | A course for students with Foundation 2 or CEFR A2 in Spanish who wish to improve.
1. Auditing (Class Only) is not allowed. All students must take all elements of assessment, including the examination.
2. Students will be assigned a group and each group has two classes a week. You must be able to attend both classes in order to take the course.
3. Students with a higher level of the language than stated above are not permitted and may be asked to withdraw from the course.
This course runs both in semester 1 and semester 2.
On successful completion (a mark of at least 70 has to be achieved) of the course, students will be eligible to take Spanish 1b.

Course description |
Foundation Spanish 3 is the follow-up to the 40 hour Foundation Spanish 2 course. Students who have successfully completed Foundation Spanish 2 course or have an equivalent knowledge in the language will be ideally suited for this course.
This course is not suitable for students who have Advanced Highers, A-Level, or knowledge above CEFR level A2. At the end of the course students should have reached approximately CEFR level A2+. Students wishing to continue learning Spanish will be eligible to join Spanish 1B (ELCH08002), provided that they have a pass rate of minimum 70% in the next academic year.

Learning Outcomes
On completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Communicate in formal and informal situations, discuss everyday themes, and deliver short presentations.
- Understand factual speech relating to university context and matters of common interest in different linguistic varieties of Spanish.
- Compose a variety of texts, using a range of tenses and modes such as future tense, conditional tense or present subjunctive and some of the structures that use these grammatical forms.
- Comprehend general information on familiar matters, social issues and cultural topics.
