Course description |
This course aims to develop the skills needed to process and interpret intermediate to complex Russia- language texts for an English-speaking audience.
It involves practical and reflective exercises involving the interpretation and analysis of Russian source texts and the creation of English language translations and summaries.
The course will encourage development of a high standard of literacy and linguistic and cultural awareness in Russian and English, an awareness of the importance of communicative and analytical strategies for passive language use, specific awareness of the challenges of Russian-English translation, and a critical attitude to machine translation and other online tools.
