SummaryThis course will provide knowledge surrounding the principles of teaching and learning within the clinical setting. It will discuss theoretical knowledge (learning theories) and practical skills relating to teaching styles and techniques. Student will learn how to implement teaching successfully within an organisation, and gain an appreciation of tools for assessment. They will be encouraged to reflect on how they will use these in their own practice.

Learning Outcomes
At the completion of the course the candidate should:
¿ Understand commonly described learning theories
¿ Be familiar with a variety of teaching tools and styles, reflecting on the benefits and disadvantages of each.
¿ Have an awareness of various tools used for assessment and the pros and cons of each
¿ Understand what is meant by problem based learning and how it may enhance teaching
Understand commonly used techniques for clinical teaching such as OSCE/ mini CEx and the principles governing their success.
