Course description |
Turkish 1a aims to teach the structure of the Turkish language through Istanbul A1 course book. During the first semester the syllabus design will be as follows: the alphabet, vowel harmony, days of the week, plural nouns, months, seasons, numbers, colours, telling time, adjectives- comparative and superlative forms of adjectives, progressive tense, past tense, noun-case suffixes, basic vocabulary, pronouns and simple dialogue, greetings and translating from Turkish to English.

Learning Outcomes
On completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- read and write short paragraphs in Turkish
- understand the basic features of Turkish grammar.
- recognise and use some basic Turkish vocabulary.
- exchange greetings, introduce themselves and engage confidently in basic conversations.
- translate elementary texts from Turkish into English and vice versa.
