Learning Outcomes
On completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- read Classical Arabic literature in the original language
- demonstrate an informed knowledge of key literary developments in Arabic prose and poetry from the 6th to the 13th century
- demonstrate an awareness of historical and social contexts within which Classical Arabic literature developed
- critically discuss various themes found in Classical Arabic literature
- discuss various forms and techniques used by Classical Arab authors
