The IMES Arabic Coursework Essay is a piece of assessed independent coursework in Modern Standard Arabic which must be taken by all IMES students taking a full year of Arabic Language Acquisition Through Residence/Study Abroad.

Additional Information (Assessment) |
The course consists of:
- A title and 200-word abstract in Modern Standard Arabic about the content and structure of the essay or story.
- A 2000-word essay (exclusive of any notes and bibliography) or 2000-word short story in Modern Standard Arabic.
- Around 15 minute oral exam consisting of a brief presentation in Arabic (5 minutes) about the topic addressed in the Arabic Essay, and a brief discussion in Arabic about the essay and the presentation.
The weighting of the assessment components is as follows:
2000 word essay/short story - 60%
Oral presentation and discussion - 40% |
