SummaryThis course consists of time spent abroad studying Persian language and culture at a university or other approved institution in a Persian-speaking country, or at an approved institution elsewhere.
Course description Students will improve their knowledge of the four basic skills of reading, writing, listening and speaking in Persian Language as well as broaden their familiarity with Persian/Iranian and Islamic/ Middle Eastern culture. This will include contact hours at the language institution, guided study, and independent learning.

Additional Information (Assessment) When studying in a Persian speaking country, there is no formal assessment of the time abroad. Rather, knowledge of the language and culture studied is assessed via the entire range of 4th year course, especially the specifically language-based ones. Additionally, in the case of attending an ERASMUS approved institution, assessment is based on a transcript from the host institution on a pass/fail basis.

Learning Outcomes
On completion of this course, the student will be able to:
  1. improve their knowledge of the four basic skills of reading, writing, listening and speaking in persian.
  2. engage in converstion on a variety of topics.
  3. produce complex written arguments in Persian.
  4. broaden their familiarity with Persian/Iranian and Islamic/Middle Eastern culture.
