Course description |
As a work based course, this mainly self-directed unit is set to offer students an opportunity to conduct an educational project within their own clinical setting. At the heart of the course is the work based/related learning contract, drawn up between the personal academic advisor and the learner. This learning contract will affirm negotiated scope for the project and articulate intended learning outcomes ¿ anchored to professional and personal development themes. Guidance for the development of a learning contract will be provided at the outset of this course.
The student will be expected to provide a critical analysis of the project and its impact and to reference (where applicable) to educational theory.
The student, with the support of the academic advisor and / or the course organiser, will identify the specific work-based clinical area in which the principles and practices of professional and personal development can be explored. Negotiating access to this clinical setting and (where applicable) to other staff, is the responsibility of the student.
Supervisory arrangements, for regular and ongoing support, will be negotiated at the outset of this course between the student and their academic advisor. It is anticipated that a minimum 6 hours of face to face contact hours will be negotiated, for support of learning, and that an electronic discussion board be utilised to support peer learning.
