SummaryThis course aims to allow the student to demonstrate competency in the appraisal, design, synthesis and delivery of a literature review or a clinical governance project.
Course description Design and organisation of a literature review with a systematic literature search, appraisal of methodological quality, data extraction and evaluation and narrative synthesis in preparation for a peer-reviewed publication. Alternatively, design and organisation of a clinical governance project relevant to the management of a child or adolescent patient including data collection and analysis write-up.

Learning Outcomes
On completion of this course, the student will be able to:
  1. Be competent in the design and organisation of a literature review / clinical audit project
  2. Obtain, critically appraise, summarise and synthesise clinical and research material from a range of appropriate resources
  3. Evaluate research appropriate to the discipline
  4. Consider, appraise and evaluate the relative benefits of different modalities of dental treatment appropriate to the discipline
  5. Compile a literature review / clinical audit for peer-reviewed publication / poster presentation
