Learning Outcomes
On completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Understand the significance of communicable disease as a public health issue both in the UK and internationally
- Describe the epidemiology of important communicable diseases in the UK and internationally
- Describe the principles of surveillance, investigation, control and prevention of communicable disease in the UK and internationally
- Outline the different methods available for the control of communicable diseases
- Apply the principles of investigating an outbreak of communicable disease, and outline the principles underlying vaccination and immunisation and the methods for monitoring and evaluating immunisation programmes.
