Summary | A course to help familiarise students with university study and to introduce students to anthropology at Edinburgh. It focuses on generic academic study skills, but using anthropological texts and key practices as examples. |
Course description |
How do anthropologists write? How do they make use of literature? How do they present their research? How does an excellent essay look? This course will answer these and other key questions about studying social anthropology. While primarily designed to make new students familiar with important academic skills, the course has a second aim: to strengthen connections between new students and introduce them to the subject area. Some sessions will be accompanied by activities outside the classroom.
NB: the course starts in Week 2 (Thursday, 27 September) and runs for 5 consecutive weeks.
