Course description |
The course will focus on the interpretation of data from various sources but the majority will concentrate on Transfusion Science practice. This course is only suitable for students who are currently employed within or have regular access to a Transfusion Science laboratory.

Learning Outcomes
On completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Evaluate results commonly encountered in blood transfusion laboratories. Design investigations to examine complex serological reactions, including recommendations for resolving unexpected anomalies, in patient testing.
- Apply the principles of scientific enquiry to undertake clinical laboratory data interpretation and formulate the rationale behind differential diagnosis.
- Analyse variants associated with ABO and Rh blood group systems. Determine and evaluate the implications for patients.
- Think independently and demonstrate creativity in the identification of problems and their solutions.
- Select and apply appropriate analysis or assessment techniques and tools.
