SummaryThis course will give students an understanding of Key elements of Farm Management. These include principles of farm accounting, farm economics and credit management, leadership and staff management, labour planning and resource use, land use, classification and rotation, waste management and international farm business. Throughout the course, the national and international legislative framework for farm business operation will provide the context within which the scope for farm business operation is possible.
Course description The course will give the students knowledge, understanding and skills in the following areas:
- Principles of farm accounting and economics
- Farm budgeting, planning and credit control
- International Agribusiness operations
- Farm resource planning including land, buildings, labour, machinery, soil, carbon and waste management
- Farm business operation within the legislative framework

  2. Recognise and describe key attributes of an effective farm business manager.
  3. Prepare a farm business budget.
  4. Explain the main legislative frameworks for national and international farm business operations.
  5. Describe the constraints to effective farm management.
