Year 1 Academic year: 2021/22, Starting in: September

Notes:
Optional courses will be chosen in consultation with the Programme Director based on careful consideration of the candidate's background, capabilities, training needs and career aspirations.

The total credits for the Programme should be 180 including the Advanced Chemical Engineering Dissertation (MSc).

- The Engineering Council Compensation Rules -
Due to the requirements of the professional accrediting bodies, in addition to passing the dissertation, graduation requires passes in at least 100 credit points worth of courses AND an overall average of 50% or more for the 120 credits of courses taken in the MSc.

- Resits for Professional Purposes -
Students NOT achieving full passes in 100 credits will be required to take 'Resits for Professional Purposes' (RPPs) in the courses where they obtained less than 50%.

Graduation with the accredited MSc will then only be permitted once the equivalent of full passes in at least 100 credits of courses has been achieved, however, the mark obtained at the first attempt will be used to calculate the final year average and degree award.

Students failing to meet the Engineering Council requirements above, will be eligible for the award of an MSc in Engineering Technology (Advanced Chemical Engineering), which does not have accredited status.
