Notes:
Aside from the Dissertation, all courses listed in the Compulsory Courses section are 'strongly recommended'. The majority of students will take these, but there may be flexibility depending on the student's background.

It is very strongly recommended that students take at least one of the following courses:
PGBI11118 Automation and Industry (SEM 1)
PGBI11103 Principles of Industrial Biotechnology (SEM 1)
BITE11001 Metagenomic analysis of microbial communities (SEM 2)
Students able to come to Edinburgh will certainly be expected to do so, with Automation and Industry suggested as the preferred option for this programme.

Students are not allowed to take more than a total of 30 credits below level 11. Further details, including restrictions on choice of courses will be available for students entering the programme to facilitate advance planning.

It is strongly recommended that students take 60 credits of courses in each semester.

Other appropriate Level 11 courses from the School of Biological Sciences may be available as options at the discretion of the Programme Director.
