Notes:
Progression to Year 2 normally requires passes in at least 80 credit points worth of courses in Year 1.

In addition, entry to Year 2 is normally only permitted if the following pre-requisite courses are passed:

- CHEM08028: Chemistry for Chemical Engineers 1A
- CHEM08029: Chemistry for Chemical Engineers 1B
- MATH08074: Engineering Mathematics 1a
- MATH08075: Engineering Mathematics 1b

Course options

Level 8 courses in Schedules A to Q, T and W

Select exactly 10 credits from Level 8 courses in Schedules A to Q, T and W

Year 3 Academic year: 2021/22, Starting in: August

Notes:
Progression to Year 3 normally requires passes in at least 100 credit points worth of courses in Year 2. The 100 credit points passed must be from the list of courses given in Year 2 of the Degree Programme Table (DPT) of the student's chosen degree programme.

In addition, entry to Year 3 is normally only permitted if the following pre-requisite courses are passed:

- SCEE08003: Fluid Mechanics 2
- SCEE08016 Engineering Thermodynamics 2
- CHEE08013 Separation Processes 2
- CHEE08017 Chemistry and Processes 2

Year 4 Academic year: 2021/22, Starting in: August

Notes:
- Entry to Year 4 MEng -
Entry to Year 4 of the MEng programme normally requires an average of 55% in third year, at the first attempt. Those not achieving an average of 55% or above will be required to transfer to Year 4 of the BEng programme.

- University Progression and Graduation Rules -
In Years 3, 4 and 5 the University progression and graduation rules normally require full passes in 80 credits of courses with an overall average of 40% or more for the 120 credits of study taken in the relevant honours year.

- Chemical Engineering Progression and Graduation Rules -
In Years 3, 4 and 5, due to the requirements of the professional accrediting body for Chemical Engineering, progression and graduation requires passes in at least 100 credit points worth of courses AND an overall average of 40% or more for the 120 credits of study taken in the relevant honours year.

- Resits for Professional Purposes -
Students NOT achieving full passes in 100 credits will be required to take 'Resits for Professional Purposes' (RPPs) in the courses where they obtained less than 40%.

Progression or graduation will then only be permitted once the equivalent of full passes in at least 100 credits of courses has been achieved, however, the mark obtained at the first attempt will be used to calculate the final year average and degree award.

Chemical Engineering (MEng Hons) 4th Year options

Select exactly 20 credits of the following courses
Notes:
No more than 20 credits of Optional Courses at SCQF level 10 (indicated by a 4 in the course title) may be taken over 4th and 5th year combined, i.e. 120 credits at SCQF level 11 (indicated by a 5 in the course title) must be taken over 4th and 5th year combined.

In addition, a maximum of 20 credits may be taken from the list of Outside Options as detailed in the Year Guide. You may wish to consult your Personal Tutor about your choice of options.

It cannot be guaranteed that all combinations of courses will be timetable compatible.

Year 5 Academic year: 2021/22, Starting in: August

Notes:

Chemical Engineering Industrial/Overseas Research Project 5

Notes:
The industrial placement/research project runs from June - December, the report is submitted in April.

Notes:
Selection must include Research Project plus one of the Group Design Projects.

Whilst Group Design Project preferences will be sought, the final allocation will be made by the Engineering Teaching Organisation to ensure a balance across all disciplines.
